The Shona people have a history of carving in stone that dates back about 1,200 years. Most artists work using simple hand tools and very few have electric tools. The stone is carved using ideas derived from the artists’ imaginations, dreams or family carving styles.

Of all African tribal art, mask making may be the most diverse. Though mask carving is especially prevalent in Western and Central Africa, it is present throughout the continent in various forms.

This Fair Trade handwoven jewelry is lovingly handcrafted by women in the mountains of Northern Swaziland. Only a few weavers and silver workers have the skill and talent to create this intricately woven miniature disk jewelry.
