The weavers depend on basket income to sustain themselves beyond what food they grow as subsistence farmers. They often use the money earned to pay school fees for their children.
In Southern Zimbabwe, basket weavers use thick, heavy coils to weave sturdy coiled baskets from sisal and local grasses.
Thanks for all your work with artisans and keeping us stocked with wonderful baskets all year.
The baskets are beautiful!!! I was very pleased with the quality, and especially, the color!!! They made a wonderful display, all 5 together, on a purple covered table outside our shop!!!! Many stopped to admire, and we sold two this morning.
