The weavers depend on basket income to sustain themselves beyond what food they grow as subsistence farmers. They often use the money earned to pay school fees for their children.
In Southern Zimbabwe, basket weavers use thick, heavy coils to weave sturdy coiled baskets from sisal and local grasses.
Just received the baskets. They are absolutely beautiful!!! Love them. I would keep every single one for myself. Hope to sell them all soon and come back for more.
Thanks for all your work with artisans and keeping us stocked with wonderful baskets all year.
