Banded Weave Teal-10 Bowl
Bold horizontal bands give this Ugandan raffia bowl its graphic, modern look.
Handwoven in Uganda by coiling dyed palm raffia around a bukedo (banana-stalk) core, the banded weave stacks clean stripes of color around the bowl. Traditionally used for serving, these bowls make striking wall decor. Every bowl is handmade and fairly traded, and each is one of a kind.
Hang it as woven wall art, group a set for a gallery wall, or set it out as a shallow bowl.
You will receive one bowl very similar to the one pictured. Dust gently; keep out of prolonged damp.
Product Size: Approximately 9.5-10.5 Inches Wide x 2.5-3.5 Inches Deep
Material: Banana Leaf Stalk, Palm

Weaving Details
Weavers construct these baskets by wrapping colorfully dyed palm raffia around a coil of bukedo, the local term in Uganda for banana leaf stalks. The large banana leaf stalks are pulled apart into long, thin strips, then dried, and then bundled into coils and wrapped with raffia.
Weavers must skillfully extend more bukedo onto the coils as they weave, in order to maintain the consistency of the coil’s size and shape. Each coil is then wrapped or occasionally stitched to the adjacent coil.
