Weaving Makenge Bush Root Baskets in Zambia
In the Western province of Zambia, not far from the border with Angola, the mostly Mbunda speaking people weave these ruggedly unique baskets.
These baskets are of a similar style to those woven in nearby Zimbabwe, but with a more rustic touch.

Props to you for your lovely calligraphy gift messages. One of my gift recipients commented that it was so well done, she was amazed! Thank you for the extra effort. I love your products, especially the Ghanaian baskets, and have gifted several. Deb
I wanted to send a quick note to express my love & appreciation for Baskets of Africa! For my birthday this past week, my daughter purchased a Ghana basket for me. Not only was I thrilled with it's beauty & workmanship, but also by the cause it supports. Kudos to Baskets of Africa and it's mission to prevent poverty through the economic development of African basket weavers! Keep up the great work! Ruth
All of our African baskets are verified Fair Trade, because we believe that indigenous people around the world should be compensated fairly for their amazing work.
