Welcome to our new website

Well, after 20 years we thought it was time for a new website!

Some of you know that the old website was really, really old — from 2002! — and the underlying technology was never updated. Well, now we are up to date and you can shop online just like you do on any other website.

We’ve redesigned the site from the bottom up to make it easier to use and to include more features and information. 

Mobile-friendly

The biggest improvement you might notice is the wonderful shopping experience we now have for cell phones. For decades now our website has been unfriendly to those of us shopping on cell phones. That’s no longer the case! The lists of baskets, shopping cart and checkout process have all been streamlined to work equally well on cell phones, tablets, laptops, or desktop computers.

Better search

We have a much more powerful search function too, so be sure to try out the search box. Moving forward we will be improving search even more, to allow you to search by color and size.

Larger photos

We still photograph every unique basket individually, so what you see on the website is exactly what you receive.  But now the photos are larger, and you can zoom in even further to see the fine details of these incredible baskets.

Shopping cart

When you add an item to your cart, a sidebar will slide out displaying the contents of your cart and quick access to checkout.  You can also view your cart any time by clicking on the cart icon in the site header.

Wishlist

If you see a basket you like but you’re not quite ready to decide, now you can add it to your wishlist.  Just click the Add to Wishlist button on the product page, or the heart icon that appears when you hover over a basket in a product grid.  To see the content of your wishlist, click on the heart icon in the site header.

My Account

When you purchase a basket on our website, you have the option to create an account that will make your next visit even easier.  From your account dashboard you can view your recent orders or your wishlist, manage your shipping and billing addresses, and edit your password and account details.

About the weavers

Our new website highlights the talented weavers who create the beautiful baskets, with information and photos of the various basket-making methods, the weaving groups we partner with, and the countries where they live. 

About Fair Trade

We believe that African weavers should be compensated fairly for their amazing work.  On our new site, you’ll find more information about Fair Trade principles, and even a downloadable handout you can use to educate others.
